11th Grade English Language Arts Syllabus for Fall 2017 Course Description This Academic School Year we will utilize the EngageNY curriculum to help us become more proficient learners through engaging in the process of:
Classroom Policies Attendance and Participation are daily necessities for success. A majority of learning takes place in this classroom and through your participation in the activities and discussions. Additionally, every Tuesday, students will be practicing Accountable Independent Reading (AIR), coupled with Proprioceptive (Reflective) Writing and journaling designed to facilitate understanding during allotted independent reading time. Finally, All students are required to uphold Equality Charter High School’s Code of Conduct and Values in this ELA Classroom and throughout the school. These Values and Code of Conduct includes, but is not limited to coming to class on time, in full uniform and Professionally prepared with supplies necessary for success. Materials YOU NEED TO BRING IN: Blue or Black Ink pens ONLY (No other colors will be graded), 2 Folders with pockets and a 5- Subject notebook (FOR ELA ONLY). The 5-Subject Notebook will be divided into the following categories: Tab #1- Vocabulary, Tabs #2 and 3- Daily Notes ( Do Now’s, Jottings, Quick Writes, etc…) Tab #4- Journal Entries and Tab #5- Listening/Viewing Logs. GENERAL PERCENT of OVERALL GRADE Assessments (Writing Assignments, Projects, Exams, etc…) 70% Classwork (Do Now’s Quick Writes, Double Entry Journals, Group Work, Proprioceptive Writing) 15% Homework 15% TOTAL 100% |
